The 21st episode of season three of LOST, titled "Greatest Hits", told the flashback story of a main character through a "greatest hits" list. The character remembered five key moments in his career, family, and personal life throughout the episode. It inspired me to create my own "greatest hits" list from the past 364 days. Five moments or times that will be remembered most from 2007.Greatest Hits: 2007
5) MPACT @ FBC Arnold
◘Following an end-of-2006, beginning-of-2007 move to Arkansas, I was able to return to my church in St. Louis for MPACT Weekend. It would prove to be my only visit to St. Louis this year. The weekend was great, filled with good times, discipleship, worship, and more. MPACT will likely be the last youth event I ever attend at FBC Arnold and a fitting close to my time there.
4) Beach Fun ◘From the last event at my old church home to the first event at my new church home. I went with FBC Benton to Orange Beach, AL over spring break. It was a relaxing week with awesome worship and teaching times mixed in with the fun and beauty of the beach. Beyond the good time I had there, many friendships were formed or strengthened, a lasting memory of the spring break beach trip.
3) Friday Night Lights
◘September 21, 2007 was the night I truly felt I fit in with the group of people at my church. Beyond superficial and minor "acceptance", I felt like I was part of the group. Standing alone at the back of the end zone at a local high school football game, I got a call asking me to join some of my friends in the (crowded) student section. A simple but defining moment of my 2007, the event would serve as the story for my narrative essay in my Composition class (an essay that garnered a 98).
◘December brought the eagerly anticipated acceptance letter from the University of Oklahoma. The only school I applied to, OU will be my home away from home from 2008-2012 as I major in the field of meteorology. Located in a suburb of Oklahoma City, OU features one of the best, if not the best, meteorological programs in the world with outstanding facilities built with the National Weather Service. My life at OU begins next fall but was made possible by the acceptance letter.
1) A Big Change
◘Though technically we moved to Arkansas from Missouri on December 30 last year, most of the adjustments were made this year. The toughest move of my life (and I've made quite a few moves) turned out to be a great one. Though I love and miss my friends in St. Louis, God has brought me to Arkansas for a purpose and has placed amazing friends in my life while putting us closer to extended family in Texas. Though only here for a short time (January 07-August 08), I am doing my best to make the most of the time I'm given here and enjoying every minute of it.
Those are my favorite moments of 2007. Honorable mentions not quite making the top five include: Fall retreat, being a teacher on a team on the Arlington, TX mission trip, the new interns at church, and getting a job at Wal-Mart.
To all who have been part of my life in 2007, I thank you for making it a great year for me. I hope it was great for you as well and that 2008 is even better.
